côte&ciel presents a new editorial exploring material as the starting point for form. Rather than centring solely on silhouette, the series looks closely at fabric itself, examining how texture, structure, and manipulation influence the way an object is worn and experienced.
At the centre of the story are two distinct fabric families: Woven Concrete and Gathered Black. Both draw from the legacy of mid-century design, a period defined by bold material experimentation and sculptural thinking. Designers such as Arne Jacobsen and Gaetano Pesce approached furniture as more than functional objects, instead creating forms that reshaped the relationship between body, material, and environment. Their influence continues to resonate through côte&ciel’s own design language.

Woven Concrete reflects this architectural clarity. Inspired by Jacobsen’s iconic Egg Chair, the fabric balances structure with softness, holding form while remaining responsive to the body. In contrast, Gathered Black embraces a more expressive approach. Inspired by Pesce’s Shadow Chair, the softly ruched nylon introduces layered texture and depth, allowing light and shadow to move across the folds.

Throughout the editorial, these materials enter into quiet dialogue. One communicates sculptural precision, the other organic movement. Together they reflect côte&ciel’s ongoing exploration of how material can shape not only the object, but the experience of wearing it.
