côte&ciel Explores the Interplay Between Movement and Design Through Performative Movement Workshop

In June, côte&ciel continued exploring conventional notions of fashion and movement with an immersive performative movement workshop curated and managed by the renowned art and movement directors Gabriele Rosati (@gabrielerosati_) and Luca Notarfrancesco (_not.luca_).

Following its ‘FOLDING—STITCHING—PULLING’ live installation, curated by Gabriele and Luca, an event taking place in London, on May 29th, côte&ciel invited a myriad of creative professionals, ranging from photographers and stylists to models and students, to experience and partake in an experimental one-day movement workshop. Exploring the synergy between movement and physical objects, people were tasked to personify a vessel to move with; that vessel being a personally selected cote&ciel bag chosen by each participant.

Throughout the 8-hour workshop, which was split into three chapters, each with an individual focus, a team of creatives from Milan captured the experience in several visual forms. From digital cameras to film and video, a printed mixed-media timeline was developed in real-time that dissected each individual participant's movements, creating an emotive, artistic recap of the entire day. The display of contemporary performance captures the interplay between côte&ciel and movement, exploring its relationship in a physical context that looks beyond just the product and how it interacts with the subject.

All participants wore an all-black uniform supplied by sportswear brand Houdini Sportswear, which allowed them to move without restraint, while côte&ciel bags complemented the look through coordinated colour and fabrication.
